WRM: Water Resources Model: dynamic water budget simulation
The dynamic model,
combining difference and differential equations,
operates at arbitrary spatial resolution, and can cover very small basins of a few km extent
to very large basins (e.g., the Nile or Yangtze)
The basic principle is mass conservation.
Simulation period generally is one (water) year defined by a start month, with daily resolution,
but within that famework, individual nodes can be described with higher temporal resolution,
e.g., reservoirs (under flood conditions, when spilling).
The model is structured as a topological network
of NODES
and connecting REACHES
(open channel or pipelines) with underlying aquifers.
