STREAM is a basin-wide dynamic water quality model for DO/BO, pollutants with a first order decay,
and any arbitrary tracer substance such as salinity.
it operates on a daily time step, and uses the network and flow data results from an underlying WRM scenario.
All demand nodes in WRM that use water (have an inflow and outflow), can
serve as a source of wastewater (BOD, arbitrary first order decaying pollutants, conservative tracer),
including wastewater treatment plants;
water purification plants can be coupled with urban or industrial water use
to meet use specific water quality constraints.
At the same time, reservoirs and wetlands can contribute to the
self-purification of their water throughflow.
