Demonstrator Technical Description:
Introduction and Overview

This document provides a summary description of the SIMTRAP Demonstrator in terms of

• its architecture
• the hardware and software requirements
• background data requirements and formats for the demonstration sites
• the scenario parameters
• the communication protocol between SIMTRAP and MODEL servers.
• the decision support paradigm and functionality.

The SIMTRAP Demonstrator is implemented in a client-server architecture; it uses a UNIX workstation with an X Windows-based graphical user interface as its main server, linked through TCP/IP and http to a MODEL Server that runs the parallel HPC models DYNEMO and DYMOS to simulate traffic flows, emissions, and air quality, respectively.
