ICZM and underwater exploration:
| |
|
Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) is one of the application
domains of ESS environmental management information and
decision support systems.
EU sponsored international research projects under FW 5 (SMART)
and FW 6 (OPTIMA) contribute to the development of
tools for land use change modeling, water resources management,
or coastal water quality modeling. In support of the model based analysis,
our projects involve field research in the littoral and sub-littoral
zone.
| |
Project locations for coastal zone research are around the Mediterranean,
the Red Sea, and in Asia, but also Alpine lakes, including underwater
exploration using SCUBA diving with conventional open circuit
or rebreather equipment for longer bottom times,
and digital camera systems for documentation.
