Time Series Data export

Time series data can be exported to any client (PC, laptop, tables, workstation) as ascii file in CSV format for further processing and analysis in any standard spreadsheet, statitsical program time series analysis, or graphical package that can import CSV files.

The procedure

    Possible start from

    • the Monitoring icon on the main page; on the real-time monitoring status page follow the link to "Monitoring data Base",
    • enter via the Data Base (DB) icon from the start page, selecting the class: "Monitoring Stations"
    • go to a specific time series directly from the tabular listing of monitoeing stations and associated time series.

    This leads to a ranking selector all time series stored in the AirWare data bases.

    The stations are listed by name, but ranked by default by the number of time series they hold; The ranking sequence can be inverted be clicking on the concept and associated up and down arrows; clicking on a different column header will select that column for ranking.
    stations cal be filtere by names or any substring that matches the station name.

    Select the appropriate monitoring station from which a time series should be exported by clicking on the corresponding row, which inverts colors when active for selection.

    For administator level users, the ranking selector can be configured interactivly with a menu triggered by the exclusive (administrator only) class setup button including definition of the ranking bar colors and the ranking bar display mechanism.


    This will lead to a display of the monitoring station OBJECT with the associated time series available at that location.

    The available time series are listed in a dedicated window under the description of the monitoring station.
    The time series grouped by their source which is the different models, and monitoring sensors (observed). Please note that for the moels, that refer to parameters calculated by the corresponfing model and exatrcted for the (real or virtual) monitoring ststion for direct comparison with any matching observation data.

    The table of time series shows their name (usually the parameter measure or modeled, and in the case of a model, scenario and resolution aor any such unambiguous designation), the unit of measurement, and the time step or sampling interval, in minutes. The rows also show the beginning and end date/time of the time series, together with the corresponding graphical representation (green horizontal bar) indicating the time period covered.
    Select a source group by clicking on the corresponding tab. The listing will again inciate the row currently active for selection by inverting the background color.
    Selecting a time series from tyhe listing will lead to its display. In two windows over each otherm the upper one shows the entire time series available, the lower one the dfata of the last sub-unit of the main time seris: for an annual time series, a month will be shown; for a monthly one, a day; for a daily one, the hours.

    To export any part or all of the time series displayed, use the export buttom in the upper right corner of the time series display screen.

    An alternative function of the export dialog/tool is the possibility of aggregation of a time series' variable from hours to days, where applicable for hourly data.

    This shows the time series selected, and offer a rnage of configuration options:

    • parameter/unit of the time series (inherited from the calling page if available)
    • choice of export target (TS data base, model TS, CSV)
    • name and any specific explanatory comments (META data)
    • the time period (start - end date) for the exported file;
    • aggregation step (hourly, daily)
    • maximum allowable gap size
    • completion method (gap filling)
    Once configured, the next step will show the selection.

    The final step will create the CSV file for storage on the client computer for subsequent local processing.
