The Academy (ATV) appoints DTC's Board of Directors, An ATV-Institute must provide services of high scientific quality. DTC has been approved by the Minister for Business and Industry as a technological service institute, a GTS-institute. Principal functions and activities: DTC gathers know-how and evaluates the effects of substances and materials on humans and the environment. DTC provides services on a contract basis within the following areas: Hazard and risk assessments; Toxicological investigations; Classification and labelling; Safety Data Sheets (several languages); Notification, approval and registration of chemical products and materials; Product and material assessment, for example, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, cleaning agents, disinfectants and foods. DTC also has a department in Moscow, providing translation services in connection with environmental projects in Russian spoken countries.
