The GAIA Web Site at
http://www.ess.co.at/GAIA has been extremely
popular with the international research community, but also with commercial
and governmental organizations as well as private users. From January 1997 to
July 1998, the GAIA server was accessed more than 600,000 times (number of GAIA
pages viewed) in more than 70,000 individual sessions, by users from 115
countries. Requests to the GAIA server increased fourfold in the period
January-July 1998 compared to the same period of the previous year.
