EMIS: Environmental Management Information System
Containers and storage units
Containers hold (hazardous) substances, raw material, intermediate or final products.
They are potential sources of (accidental) release,
and thus part or starting point of the technological risk assessment
(Metodo Speditivo rapid screening-level risk analysis model).
Containers or warehouses (that include possibly large number
of smaller containers) are georeferenced, belong to an industrial plant or enterprise
Container attributes include:
- they hold a substance (linked to the hazardous substances MSDS data base),
- have a maximum capacity and current volume or mass,
- storage conditions (pressure and temperature),
- safety measures such as leak detection, overpressure valves, sprinklers, or containments.
The containers provide the parameters of the source term for the risk analysis
and accident modeling that EMIS supports.
- Material storage, containers
