EARSS: Population Development
A central variable for the assessment of environment and development
problems in EARSS
are population data.
National data, including age and sex distribution, and forecasts
to the year 2025, are available in the system based on the UN
Population data sets.
Derived from the UN 1992 Population Prospects ,
the EARSS data set contains population data
for 155 countries, covering the period from 1950 to 2025.
The projections are based on the ninth
round of global demographic assessment undertaken by the United Nations
Secretariat. The various figures and demographic indicators are derived
from data that were available generally by the beginning of 1990.
