Emission control optimization in AirWare includes tools for the mul;ti-criteria optimization
of air quality management strategies, the most obvious one being emission reductions.
The optimization strategy is based on a multi-stage apporach,
starting with emission scenarios and subsequent simulation with the full featured fate and transport model,
and technically with a first "satisficing" round generating feasible and non-dominate alternatives,
and a subsequent discrete multi-criteria DSS to define (as a possible participatory group
decision making process) an efficient (multi-criteria compromise) solution.
The optimization uses the basic (dynamic) emission models, including the dust entrainment model,
the fate and transport model CAMx (with MM5 generated meteorology), the AIrWare emission inventories and scenarios,
and a data base of emission control technologies (with their applicability, efficiencies and cost functions)
that can be assigned to the various emission sources or classes of emission sources.
