Environmental Impact Assessment Case study:
Delimara Thermal Power Station, Malta
Screening level analysis of the 144 MW extension
The first level of screening runs for the capacity extesnion simply increases the baseline
emission by 50%, retaining all other parameters and model inputs unchanged.
The screening scenarios were run again for three years (2008, 2009, 2010)
and several emission scenarios:
- Delimara 450 MW extended generating capcity version only 150 m stack with 112.5 g/s NOx average emissions,
based on the DPS IPPC report and permit;
- Delimara 450 MW base version, but with the actual measure emissions for
one to three years, depending on data availability;
- Delimara 450 MW base version, together with other relevant
emissions such as the second power plant in Marsa, waste incinerator,
Free Harbor and several fuel depots and loading stations,
Malta International Airport, local traffic.
